Rename the MACC

The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) should rename themselves to Murders Are Common Committee – or something to that affect. While the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the death of Teoh Beng Hock, who was found dead outside a multi-story building, is still going on another person is found dead outside another multi-story building.

According to TheStar, “A senior Customs officer being investigated by the MACC for graft involving unpaid taxes is believed to have fallen to his death from the 3rd floor of the MACC Building in Jalan Cochrane on Wednesday morning. The MACC has identified the officer as Selangor assistant director Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed, 56.”

Judging a Book

Today, I went to a bookstore with my family and my nephew went off to pick some books to buy. My sister was trying to encourage my nephew to read by randomly picking books off the shelf. I decided to recommend some of the books that I loved to read around his age. Then, the funniest thing happened.

My nephew commented that it was not a good book because it was too thick and heavy.

This brought back memories. My sister used to also judge a book by its weight. She used to teach me that the best book to buy is the thickest and fattest one. However, my nephew is now doing the opposite – buying the thinner and lighter book instead.

I found it funny – that my nephew was judging a book by its weight, just like his mom.

Excited over Law

Received this in the mail yesterday.

I have taken the first step. Now, I’ll need to wait to see if it is successful. Also, I just filed my taxes recently and noticed that there are some tax deductions for academic fees. I guess that this will qualify! I wonder if I can withdraw some of my EPF savings to pay for the fees too. That should help a lot.

Getting It Right

Was feeling a bit under the dumps. So, I went looking for new Glee songs on Youtube today.

How do I motivate myself to work?

That’s one of the problems that I have these days. I am working practically all the time now – seven days a week. It is kind of difficult to keep going at this pace without a break from time to time. Today is one of those days. I have a pile of work that I need to get done, but I just have no motivation to do any of it.

I need a new scheduling algorithm.
